Hugues Bersini (1961) lives in Brussels and has a MS and PhD in engineering from the Université Libre de Bruxelles where he now holds a full professorship and is one of the heads of its IRIDIA A. I. lab. He has partnered with various industrial projects and has published around three hundred papers in the fields of cognitive science, connectionism, neural networks, complex systems, artificial intelligence, and others. In addition to co-organising conferences (PPSN, ECAL, tribute to F. J. Varela, etc.), coordinating international projects (e.g. FAMINO LTR), consulting companies, and leading workshops, he has authored several books on basic computer science. Currently, he is working on data mining and warehousing of genomic data for the Silico project.
